Guo Yue Wins Gold at 22nd Asian Cup

In Yokohama it was bronze for Ma Long in the Men’s Singles event at the H.I.S. World Championships; while for Guo Yue it was silver in the counterpart Women’s Singles competition.

Just over two weeks later on Thursday May 21, 2009 at the Cheng Shin Tire 22nd Asian Cup, it was gold.

Guo Yue won the Women’s Singles title beating Chinese national team compatriot, Liu Shiwen, at the final hurdle; while Ma Long defeated, Wang Hao, the man who had been crowned World champion in Yokohama.

Third Place
Third place in the Women’s Singles event went to Ding Ning, also of China. She beat Hong Kong’s Tie Yana while in the Men’s Singles it was bronze for Zhang Jike.

Birthday
He beat Seiya Kishikawa in a contest where he showed no mercy; it was the Japanese star’s 22nd birthday.

Once again in a major tournament the Chinese were dominant; in each event they fielded three players; in each event they won gold, silver and bronze.
