Meiklejohn N.A. Seniors Open Table Tennis Tournament

This past weekend, the Meiklejohn tourney attracted 262 senior players to beautiful Laguna Woods, California. The prize money for the 20th annual Meiklejohn event was increased this year to $18,500.
Gao Jun was the big winner as she won the main event the over 40 singles,0ver 40 women and senior elite events. Gao won $4,800. Gao Jun defeated Dan Seemiller in the 40 final. Musa defaulted to Seemiller in the semifinal as he had a bad cramp in his calf that would not go away.
Dan also won the over 50 event over Dave Sakai. Sakai knocked out Attila Malek 3-0 and Parviz Mojaverian 3-0. Seemiller won 3-0. John Wetzler won the $750 prize for winning the Under 2400 event.
Musa and George Brathwaite won the 4800 doubles and the $800 1st prize.
In the senior elite event Gao defeated Khoa Nguyen in the semis and Musa fought off a match point against Seemiller to win 3-2. Gao won the final 3-1.
