2009 Potomac Spring Open Results

Han Xiao: 2009 Potomac Spring Open Champion

Although this year’s tournament falls on Mother’s day weekend, the turn-out was great --- it still attracts 85 players, 13 of them joining the USATT as new members. The tournament went smoothly but not without a minor glitch --- the AC in the playing court broken down the night before the tournament day. Players sweat not only due to intense competition but also because of the steaming heat. Thanks to a local Gala Construction Co. who had generously provided 12 cases of ice-cold bottled drinks on site that seems able to simmer down players’ heat as well as temper.

Raghu Nadmichettu: 2009 Potomac Spring Open Finalist

The quarterfinals in the OPEN event produced no upsets with Han Xiao, Tao Li, Nazruddin Asgarali, and Raghu Nadmichettu emerging into the semifinals. In the semifinals, Nadmichettu defeated Li in 4-2, but not without hard fight. In the second semifinal match Xiao advanced to the final by defeating Asgarali in 4-0. Xiao then took the title by defeating Nadmichettu in 4-1in the final.

Tao Li: 2009 Potomac Spring Open Semi-finalist

The 2009 Potomac Spring Open was another big success. The Potomac Country Table Tennis Club is one of the premier clubs in the Washington DC area with strong attendance and high-level competition at its weekly meetings every Wednesday and Saturday.
