Sun City, AZ - The Sun City Table Tennis Club captured a club-record 23 medals at the Arizona Senior Olympics.
The club had 11 players account for 23 medals at this year's competition. That broke last year's mark of 20 medals with 12 competitors.
Carolyn Rucker, Dorothy Irving and Dennis Keppen led the way with three gold medals apiece.
The remaining eight club members - Yali Carpenter, Shirley Henry, Grace Wetter, Jim Eggleston, Fred Grimsrud, Gerald Pratt, Al Riedel and Bob Shepard - combined for eight gold medals and six silver medals.
The Sun City competitors placed first or second in every event.
Ten club members qualified last year for the 2009 National Senior Games, scheduled this summer at Stanford University in Palo Alto, Calif. Three members - Henry, Irving and Eggleston - have entered the event and plan to compete for national honors.
