April 14, 2009 - Participation at the H.I.S. 2009 World Table Tennis Championships in Yokohama is not in danger but a pain in the lumbar region has forced the 28-year-old German to take a break during the next days.

Timo Boll, who has played on top level for almost one year, is considered one of the toughest opponents for the Chinese favorites.

A specialist in Munich will treat Boll tomorrow.

Appointment with Famous Sports Doctor
China’s top stars are working hard with regard to the World Championships in Yokohama being staged from 28th April to 5th May, while one of their hardest opponents, Europe’s best and world number four Timo Boll, has to interrupt the preparations briefly.

The German multi-European champion has again pain around the lumbar region. “It is my old problem that has been hurting me for several days again”, Boll was quoted on tischtennis.de.

On Wednesday, Boll will be treated by the well-known Munich orthopedist Hans-Wilhelm Müller-Wohlfahrt. “He always gained control of my problems very quickly. That’s why I don’t worry too much”, Boll said.

Doing Everything
Dirk Schimmelpfennig, Sports Director of the German Table Tennis Association, is confident as well. “According to the status quo his participation at the World Championships in Yokohama, Japan is not in danger, but we must do everything, to have him free of pain and on the highest possible fitness level.”
