The Singapore Indoor Stadium promises best conditions for table tennis. The venue, officially opened in 1989, has staged among others the MTV Asia Awards, the Women’s World Floorball Championships as well as pop and classic concerts by the Rolling Stones, Robbie Williams, Tina Turner, Sarah Brightman or Luciano Pavarotti.
“Hottest Ticket in Town”
The table tennis events will add another chapter in the glorious past of the facility and might be the hour of birth for a future champion. ITTF Education and Training Director Mikael Andersson, driving force behind the global Junior and Cadet events being staged since 2002, is convinced that table tennis will be one of the best prepared disciplines among all the Olympic sports.
“Having seen several of these young players in action, I find no hesitation in my belief that table tennis in Singapore 2010 will be the hottest ticket in town with a wide spectrum of players from the global scene presenting themselves with excellent skill and poise.”
