ITTF Coach Accreditation System Introduced to United States

All are present for an ITTF/PTT Level One Coach Education course of 30 hours which is being staged from Sunday to Thursday September 5th-9th and will be followed by an ITTF/PTT Level One Course Conductor Training Programme of 12 hours on Saturday and Sunday September 11th-12th.
Driving Forces
Discussions began about two years ago to introduce the ITTF Coach Accreditation system in the United States; Richard McAfee, Chairman of National Coaching Committee, Mike Cavanaugh the Chief Executive Officer of the United States Table Tennis Association and Doru Gheorghe, the Technical director of the United States Table Tennis Association, were the driving forces that made matters happen.
Present on the course are several notable names, including Dennis Davis (ITTF Junior Commission member), Larry Hodges, Richard McAfee and Don Olsen all coaches who have written books about table tennis, Christian Lillieroos (former Para Table Tennis President and Daniel Rutenberg, the United States Para Table Tennis National Coach.
The tables for the course were kindly donated by Killerspin. Following the course the local club will be the benificiary receiving the tables.
Dedication
Many coaches have taken nine days off work to attend and have paid their own airfares.
A first class response has been witnessed and there is a positive approach. Dragomir Cioroslan from United States Olympic Committee explained they are looking for ways to further assist table tennis is United States, they are discussing the next steps of targeting women coaches in 2011 and introducing an ITTF Level Two Course in 2012.
