New Partner for German National Teams, Agreement Signed with Butterfly

Courtesy of ITTF Germany, who enjoyed outstanding success at the recently complete Liebherr World Team Championships in Moscow, has signed a three year deal with the Tamasu Company who market the Butterfly brand. |
Shunsaku Yamada, the Chief Executive Officer of the Tamasu Company, which markets the Butterfly brand, and Thomas Weikert the President of the German Table Tennis Association signed on the dotted line to effect the agreement from Tuesday June 1, 2010.
Ideal Partner
“The German Table Tennis Association, with strong national teams is the ideal partner for Butterfly”, said Shunsaku Yamada. “The German Table Tennis Association promotes the highest standards, always endorsing high quality.”
The Tamasu Company, which was founded 1950 in Japan, has been represented in Germany since 1973 by Tamasu Butterfly Europe GmbH. The offices are situated in the city of Moers in the Lower Rhine region and thus the link with German table tennis is a natural marriage.

“Especially because of our long involvement in Germany, the contract with the German Table Tennis Association has a special meaning for us”, added Shunsaku Yamada.
Furthermore, Butterfly has been the sponsor of 29 year old Timo BOLL since he was 12 years old and has supported the German star throughout his illustrious career; a career that has seen him crowned twice Men’s World Cup winner, three times European champion and the no.1 ranked player in the world.

“We are sure that we have a strong and fair partner alongside”, said Thomas Weikert. “We are very optimistic that we will build a harmonious and dynamic doubles partnership which promises a long and successful future of the highest quality.”
European Championships
The German players who won the silver medal in the Men’s Team event at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games be wearing the Butterfly logo for the first time at the European Championships in Ostrava (11th-19th September 2010) where they are aiming to win the Men’s Team crown for the third consecutive time.
