Romania’s 22 year old Daniela Dodean, who will be on duty for the World All Stars Team at the Volkswagen 2010 China versus World Team Challenge in Shanghai on Tuesday and Wednesday June 29-30, 2010, has decided to move to Austria to further her table tennis career.

She will join the Werner Schlager Academy, build at a cost of 46.2 million Euros and due to open in the late summer.

The Romanian star, who was outstanding earlier in the year when she reached the semi-final stage of the Women’s Singles event at the Qatar Open, has rented an apartment in Schwechat, next to the Werner Schlager Academy.

Unbelievable
“I have heard a lot about Werner’s Academy but now that I have visited the building I am really impressed”, said Daniela Dodean. “It’s unbelievable that all this is possible for the European table tennis; I am really looking forward to moving to Schwechat and to be part of the training group.”

Daniela Dodean will line up alongside Chinese Taipei’s Huang Yi-Hua, China’s Yi Fang Xiang and the host nation’s Li Qiangbing for SVS Niederösterreich; the club which Werner Schlager has always represented. Euro) opens late summer.

Motivated
“It is a big motivation for me and my team to work in table tennis with women”, said Werner Schlager. “I think that a lot of improvements are possible; I am looking forward to this work.”

Welcome Initiative
The initiatives being taken by the Werner Schlager Academy are to be welcomed at a time when financial constraints have resulted in only six teams applying to join the 2010-2011 Women’s European Champions League.

Unfortunately it has been necessary to suspend the competition with all teams being invited to compete in the Women’s ETTU Cup; it is anticipated that the future of the competition will be discussed at the European Championships to be staged in Ostrava in September.
