Brazilians Excel at Latin American Junior and Cadet Championships

Furthermore, Brazil appeared in all four finals and when successful, there was one common factor, the victim on each occasion was Paraguay.
Tested
Success for the Brazilians but they were tested, especially in the Junior Boys’ Team final where victory was recorded by the very narrowest of margins.
Gustavo Souza was the hero of the hour beating Axel Gavilan, with the score in the fixture level at two matches apiece; Souza recovered from a two games to one deficit to win 12-10 in the deciding fifth game.
Marcelo Aguirre Superb
Thorn in the side of the Brazilians was Marcelo Aguirre, who remained unbeaten throughout the whole tournament. He defeated both Gustavo Souza and Danilo Toma in the final.
The remaining Brazilians wins in the final came from Danilo Toma in opposition to Axel Gavilan and from Franc Fernando against Santiago Osario.
Bronze Medalists
Chile represented by Felipe Olivares, Manuel Moya and Marcelo Fernandez finished in third place with Argentina’s Juan Daher, Pablo Saragovi and Emir Baca, fourth.
Caroline Kumahara Outstanding
Similarly, the final of the Junior Girls’ Team competition saw Brazil defeat Paraguay with Caroline Kumahara the mainstay of victory.
She overcame both Lucero Ovelar and Sandy Gavilan with Priscila Dias adding the one further win for the victors by defeating Fatima Martinez.
The one success for Paraguay came from Sandy Gavilan against Katja Kawai in the opening contest.
Third and Fourth Places
Peru represented by Nadia Quiñonez, Angela Mori and Maria Soto secured third place with Venezuela’s Mariana Inaudi, Roxy Gonzalez and Herlys Revilla fourth.
Two finals with Brazil confronting Paraguay and a third came in the Cadet Boys’ Team competition with a three-one success being recorded.
Backbone of Victory
Backbone of the Brazil victory was Hugo Calderano; he defeated both Alejandro Toranzos and Sebastian Aguirre with Vitor Ishiy adding the one further success. In the opening match of the fixture, he accounted for Sebastian Aguirre.
Real Rodolfo secured the one Paraguayan success; he overcame Hiago Alfonso.
Semi-Finalists
Argentina with Diego Teplitzky, Fermin Tenti and Nicolas Galvano alongside Peru’s Davelouis Julio Li, Diego Rodriguez and Daniel Chang were the beaten semi-finalists.
Peruvians in Form
A bronze medal for Peru but in the Cadet Girls’ Team event it was two steps better with on this occasion, Brazil having to settle for silver.
Francesca Vargas, Valentina Lertora and Meyling Guerra recorded a three-nil final victory over Karina Hayama, Priscila Salvador and Cassia Edamatsu.
Dominican Republic and Venezuela
The Dominican Republic represented by Eva Brito, Leanny Rodriguez and Karla Brito plus the Venezuelan outfit of Gremlis Arvelo, Winberly Montero and Josmary Lucena were the beaten semi-finalists.
