Courtesy of ITTF China’s 19 year old Liu Shiwen heads the list once again with the next six places seeing no change from the May order of merit. Singapore’s Feng Yalan is at no.2 followed by the Chinese duo of Guo Yan and Ding Ning with Korea’s Kim Kyung Ah at no.5. |
Guo Yue, the 2007 Women’s Singles World champion retains her no.6 spot ahead of Chinese national team compatriot, Li Xiaoxia who, now recovered from an appendix operation, climbs one place to join Hong Kong’s Jiang Huajun in the no.7 spot.
Singapore’s Wang Yue Gu moves from no.10 to no.9, changing places with Japan’s Ai Fukuhara.
Thus six of the top ten ranked female players are from China and it would seem their great traditions in female table tennis excellence are set to continue.
Teenagers Climb
Teenagers Gu Yuting and Sheng Dandan both make notable progress; the former moves from over one hundred places from no.194 to no.93 while the latter is now at no.100 having previously been listed at no.124.
Notable progress for Gu Yuting and Sheng Dandan and there is also progress for the ever improving Huang Yi-Hua of Chinese Taipei. She climbs from no.27 to no.20; the highest ranking of what is a blossoming career.
Sadness for Poland and Romania
Success for Asian players but it is not great news for Poland and Romania.
Poland’s Li Qian falls from no.19 to no.25; while colleague Natalia Partyka drops to no.91 having previously been listed at no.65. Similarly for Romania, Daniela Dodean falls from no.20 to no.27 and Elizabeta Samara is five places lower than in May. She is now at no.33.
All Change for Cadet Girls
Similarly, for Romania, it is a lower ranking for Bernadette Szocs in the Under 15 Girls’ list. Formerly at no.1, she is now at no.6. China’s Gu Yuting occupies to top spot, climbing from no.4 with Zhu Yuling entering at no.2 ahead of Li Xi, to complete a Chinese trio.
In the May list Li Xi was at no.17.
No Change
Meanwhile, on the Under 18 Girls’ Rankings there is no change; Liu Shiwen is at no.1 followed by colleagues Ding Ning and Feng Yalan while on the Under 21 Women’s list it is the same scenario.
China’s Wu Yang retains top billing ahead of Japan’s Kasumi Ishikawa and Chinese Taipei’s Chng I-Ching.
