There are 772 days to go to the Opening Ceremony for the 2012 London Olympic Games; that is the situation on Wednesday June 16, 2010, every day preparations for the sporting extravaganza move forward.

Spectators from throughout the world will travel to watch the world’s sporting stars in action and it would seem that the demand for tickets for the table tennis events may well be very high.

Certainly, those teams with aspirations of medals will attract supporters and there will be the faithful who will support the British team travelling from the four corners of the United Kingdom.

Enthusiasts
However, from where will most of the enthusiasts come?

The answer could well be from London, the host city and the reason is Ping!

Social Play
“Ping” is a three year project initiated by the English Table Tennis Association to provide opportunities for people to play table tennis socially and free of charge.

The English Table Tennis Association is seeking 75 lead volunteers and 225 helpers to help organize Ping! London; 50 temporary table tennis tables plus over 25 permanent concrete tables will be available in parks in London from Saturday 24th July to Saturday 21st August for the public to try their hand at table tennis.

Fun Activities
Bats and balls will be provided with the volunteers organizing a range of fun activities and competitions.

It is envisaged that four further English cities will feature “Ping” with the program returning to London in time for the 2012 Olympic Games.
