The visit to Schiltigheim for the Eurominichamps is now becoming established as a traditional stop for the ITTF Hopes Team.

In 2009 the inaugural group was present in the French town; once again from Friday to Sunday August 27-29, 2010, the ITTF World Hopes was on duty.

They arrived on Tuesday August 24th, enjoyed two days of training and then competed in the tournament and competed successfully.

Quick Learners
"It's all about learning", explained Zita Pidl, the ITTF Hopes Team Manager. “It is exactly as we said last time and for the majority of the team members it was learning indeed.”

Learn but for two players in the group they were the mentors.

“We had two members from whom others had to learn”, said Zita Pidl. “Marie Migot of France, the cool cat which is the copyright phrase of Mikael Andersson, and Victor Hung Ka Tak both won gold medals, they beat everybody facing them in three tough days of competition.”

Delighted with Performances
Outstanding results and overall Zita Pidl was delighted with the performances of her charges.

“This year our female team was better considering results, as all of them passed all group stages and advanced to the main draw”, she added. “The boys were less successful but all of them showed what we were looking for: motivation, a positive attitude, fighting spirit and fair play; I am sure all of them go home with a great motivation for the coming months and years.”

No doubt that is the situation.

Cultural Time
“In addition to training and hard competition hours we found again time to enjoy some cultural and tourist experiences”, explained Zita Pidl. “On the afternoon before the competition the team visited Strasbourg and enjoyed a one hour boat trip on the river, not only seeing the old city part, but also the modern office buildings of the European Union.”

The curtain has been drawn on 2010; now the team members are waiting for the follow up activities, they wait with baited breath.
