2011 USATT Development Coach of the Year - Stefan Feth
Coach of the year - Stefan Feth (World Champions Table Tennnis Academy in San Jose, CA)

Coach Stefan Feth made USA his home almost 6 years ago and has helped the sport in this country grow tremendously. His original focus was to bring up a new generation of players (starting with kids from 6 to 8 years old) who can compete against the best in the world in their later years. Since his move to this country, Stefan created many young players who became US cadet, junior and senior national team members.

The former German National Team Member (Cadet, Junior and Senior Level) being a top cadet and junior player himself, knows exactly what it takes to rise to the top and he wanted to give back to the sport that has given him everything. With that in mind, Stefan was chosen to be the US Men’s National Team Coach in 2009.

In 2011, two of Stefan’s 11 eleven year old boys were selected by the ITTF to be on the 4 man 2011 World Hopes Team. Every year the ITTF selects four extraordinary boys from all over the world to train and compete in various global tournaments for the World Hopes Team. Both boys were out of Stefan’s first original group of 6-8 year old kids when he started working in the US.

Stefan not only created many US national team players but he also created a team training atmosphere where these young kids can work together locally to reach their dreams. The ITTF also recognizes his work and made Stefan’s home club to be one of the 22 ITTF approved Hot Spot training centers of excellence in the world.

Stefan also says that seeing kids progress in the sport as players is only part of the equation. Since he works with many kids on a daily basis, he strives to be a constant positive influence and to help them grow into great, well rounded people off the table.

Another one of Stefan's assets is his belief in being a team player. Having come from a strong team environment, Stefan aims to teach his players the importance of working together and being supportive of one another from an early age. Stefan believes that "not only will we win together but we will also help each other through the losses and grow from it together as a team and a family."
